Our Story

The Muscle Suite is based in two locations. The Barn in the idyllic setting of Memorys Restaurant and Cafe in Springston. Alternatively for those close to Christchurch or inner city, TMS operates at Flow Wellbeing Centre every Monday and every first Saturday of the month.

TMS is combing the refined craft of effective massage therapy techniques, modalities and movement practices into a tailored holistic approach to each client. Massage therapy treatments range from deep tissue, remedial, sports & therapeutic massage, vacuum cupping therapy, gua sha/scraping.

In addition TMS offers assisted stretch therapy sessions which include assisted stretching and massage combined.

 

TMS are creating a space to encourage, support and explore your body in achieving optimal performance and functionality. With an holistic approach to treatments the principle objective of maintaining and or improving each clients complete well-being both in mind and body.

Emma Giddens

Qualified Massage Therapist 

Sports Trainer

Centered around an holistic approach to treatments with a focus on client individuality. With a background in competitive sport, there's attention to injury prevention and recovery, whether you are an athlete, weekend warrior or active in your health and wellbeing. Furthermore supporting individuals in athletic recovery and post-op/injury rehabilitative care.


As a former elite level athlete, Emma has an educated and practical knowledge of strength and conditioning, both mind and body, with a focus on the importance of rest and recovery to ensure our mind body connection are working in-sync.

Emma was born and raised in Christchurch, completing her Diploma of Sport (Elite Performance) Certification in Holistic Massage Therapy, Certification in Nutrition and Weight Management (U.K) where she worked as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor in London. Having previously owned and operated two massage therapy businesses since 2011.

For the past six years Emma has been based In Melbourne refining her skills and taking on roles to diversify her skill set, including coaching at one of Melbourne's premier National fitness facilities. During Covid as gyms across the globe were forced to find ways to retain members and support there communities, Emma carried out online yoga classes for the members to link into to encourage most recently In Melbourne, as well being an instrumental part of the management team as the clubs Sports Trainer for one of Melbourne's top Premiere State League Football Clubs before returning to her roots in Christchurch.


Emma is currently completing her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training and Mobility Coaching Certification, most recently been starting an Online micro-credential at the University of Auckland in Mind Body Science - Contemporary Neuroscience.

 

With over 15 years' experience Emma has worked with a range of clients, from Olympic athletes, professional sports teams, preventative & post injury rehabilitation & post op rehab. Furthermore, general population in maintenance and health and wellbeing, or clients simply wanting some time away to give themselves some much needed self-love, rest and relaxation.


With a range of available massage therapy treatments, TMS carries out an extensive consultation phase so that each treatment is individualised specifically to meet your requirements and support you in achieving your treatment goals.


Emma's mission to educate not only herself and the people around her, but support and encourage her peers, community and clients to create a body that functions with balance both mind and body.
